About
Jonathan Dyer spent three years during the Cold War living and working in Berlin as a Russian Linguist for the Army's Intelligence and Security Command. His experiences in Berlin serve as the background for his Cold War thrillers, the Nick Temple Files (six published to date and another in progress), and his 21st century thriller, The Holy Lance. His eclectic body of work includes a collection of short stories, A String of Beads, a post-modern existential novella, Judging Paradise, and a coming-of-age novel, Let Me Explain, that draws heavily on his adolescent years at a New England prep school. His latest work is Greg Scarpa, Legendary Evil, a biography of a notorious Mafia gangster who was also an FBI informant for more than 25 years.

What inspired you to start writing?
Poverty! I was living in San Francisco. I was 19, barely able to pay the rent, buy groceries, etc. No TV, no radio, nothing that I could afford to fill the evenings other than reading. So I started writing to break things up just a bit.

Can you tell us a little about your latest book?
Greg Scarpa, Legendary Evil is a biography of a Mafia goodfellow who was also an FBI informant for nearly 30 years. Nothing about this man was ordinary. His life was filled with violence, deceit, and treachery right up until the day he died in a prison hospital.
