I’m Michael Bianco, an author, engineer, and lifelong explorer of how science, history, and human ambition intersect. I was born in Italy, raised in Quebec, and now live on Florida’s Gulf Coast. Before writing fiction, I spent my career designing and improving complex systems in agriculture and climate control. I founded an engineering company, led international projects, and earned six patents. One of those patents became a standard in fruit-ripening rooms, a small contribution that quietly touches food supply chains every day.

Travel has been my best teacher. I’ve visited more than sixty countries and worked on projects across Europe, the Middle East, and North America. I lived and worked for six months in the Upper Egypt town of Qena, helping farmers meet international certification requirements for their crops. I have stood beneath the columns of the Parthenon, drifted through Istanbul’s ancient cisterns, traced hieroglyphs near the Valley of the Kings, walked the chalk plains toward Stonehenge, and stared up at the pyramids at Giza outside Cairo. The questions those places raise; who built this, why here, what knowledge was lost, sit at the heart of my stories.

My debut novel, Orion’s Seed (2025), is a science-driven thriller and the opening to a trilogy. It follows a relentless search for truth that spans research labs, government corridors, and long-buried secrets. Readers often note the pacing and the attention to real-world detail. That accuracy matters to me. I write the kinds of books I love to read: high-stakes narratives that make you turn pages and also make you think.

When I’m not writing, I’m usually outdoors with a camera, cooking for family and friends, or trying to straighten out my golf game. I speak English, French, and Italian, and I’m as happy discussing airflow dynamics as I am the mystery of an old map.
