Why write a book
I was bored with the redundant Space Operas requiring magical Faster Than Light rockets, flaming sword battles, weird aliens and transporters. The books revolve around the Lucerne family, merchants on Solar Sail cargo ships.
-
Can you tell us a little about your latest book?
My latest book is "After BeforeTimes" (Vol 5 in the H2LiftShip series).
It fills in the blanks of the other volumes, following Graciela's parents as they make their way around the asteroids, selling, stealing and gambling as any good merchant should.
-
How do you create your characters?
I'm limited to characters of this planet, no aliens. Primates (Human and simian) canines and octopuses. They tell me where they want to go, and I have to fill in the details as they travel from point A to point B.
-
What does your typical writing day look like?
Completely random. 1000's of characters to a sentence on any given day
-
What has been the most rewarding part of being an indie author?
Publishing books and seeing people's reactions. Reviews are priceless, folks.
-
What’s one challenge you’ve faced in your writing journey?
It's all hard, until the book is published and then it's harder to market the stories.
-
Do you have any favorite writing tools or apps?
I use Scrivener, Microsoft Word and a ReMarkable tablet. They all have pluses and minuses, and it helps to see the words on different platforms.
-
What advice would you give to new or aspiring indie authors?
Don't listen to writing advice.
-
How do you handle book promotion as an indie author?
Throw money at the problem, try to work the socials.
-
What’s next for you? Are you working on a new book?
After the Space Opera series, my new book is about Time Travel
Well, not travel, as such.
José breaks thorough the TimeWall and sees...himself.
He has to deal with a string of moments; gray and one-dimensional, wearing his glasses and they are not happy to see him.
That and cryptids, timeless homeless camps, the University's TimeWall Proton gun, other TimeExplorers and the military.
