Inside the Mind - Anhait

  • What inspired you to start writing?
My real name is Anahit but my pen name is Anhait (unknown). I am always inspired by life to write, but I also use my imagination to make my works attractive. As a poetess I write my prose poetically with metaphors, allegorical expressions and philosophical depth.
  • Can you tell us a little about your latest book?
My latest book is a memoir. It is based on my own and my ancestors' memories.
  • How do you create your characters?
I create my characters on the base of realities, but I also go from realities to fantasies, from real to surreal.
  • What does your typical writing day look like?
I usually write when I am inspired. The sources of inspiration are so many, that's why I sometimes write for hours.
  • What has been the most rewarding part of being an indie author?
In my opinion the most rewarding part of being an indie author is being appreciated.
  • What’s one challenge you’ve faced in your writing journey?
Challenges are many. As an author I can mention visibility as one of my challenges. That's why I chose my pen name Anhait that means unknown.
  • Do you have any favorite writing tools or apps?
Yes, I have some, and I submit some of my works for the readers for free.
  • What advice would you give to new or aspiring indie authors?
Writing is not a sort of business but it's a style of living. No matter if we are successful or not, we still write. Never give up. Go on writing.
  • How do you handle book promotion as an indie author?
I always face difficulties to promote my books. I have a part time job to make ends meet and I cannot afford to pay for promotion of my books. I am grateful to Findbooksandauthors.com for their support and kindness to those self-published authors whose small budget does not allow them to use paid promo services.
  • What’s next for you? Are you working on a new book?
Yes, I am working on my new poetry book.
