What inspired you to start writing?
The inspiration came when my brother became a Christian after serving five years of a sixteen-year prison sentence in the Philippines. I felt compelled to share our story.
-
Can you tell us a little about your latest book?
My first book, rather than my latest, tells the story of how our mission to the Philippines began.
-
How do you create your characters?
The story is entirely factual—not fiction. This includes all 66 testimonies from former criminals who have written their personal accounts of conversion.
-
What does your typical writing day look like?
I often begin writing early in the morning when the subject is fresh on my mind. I refer to previous texts and images, and sometimes create a YouTube video alongside the writing.
-
What has been the most rewarding part of being an indie author?
The most rewarding moment is clicking the “publish” button and seeing the finished book available for others to read.
-
What’s one challenge you’ve faced in your writing journey?
While I enjoy writing and publishing, I find promotion to be the most difficult part.
-
Do you have any favorite writing tools or apps?
I use Adobe InDesign for layout and Photoshop for images and cover design.
-
What advice would you give to new or aspiring indie authors?
Write because you enjoy expressing yourself. That in itself is a reward—whether or not the book sells.
-
How do you handle book promotion as an indie author?
No, I don’t handle book promotion personally. However, my books are available on Amazon and the Internet Archive. Promotion is a service I need.
-
What’s next for you? Are you working on a new book?
I’m currently developing a series of books that continue the theme of my first publication, Setting Captives Free.
