What inspired you to start writing?
I have been an avid reader since my teens and love the written word. One day decided I wanted to do something creative, so I began to write a novel. It was an experiment, but I enjoyed the experience and the result. I continued writing.
-
Can you tell us a little about your latest book?
The last book I published was a fantasy novel about shapeshifters. It is set in an unnamed world in a medieval-style society. It has three POVs as the main character is an unconscious shape-changer, who hosts two others. As they learn of each other's existence, they become embroiled in political intrigue.
-
How do you create your characters?
I really don't know. Characters pop into my head all the time.
-
What does your typical writing day look like?
I don't have a typical writing day. I don't set goals. The urge to write comes to me when I am in the mood. I don't set schedules, I write when I have time or feel the urge.
-
What has been the most rewarding part of being an indie author?
I love the process of putting a story together, one sentence following another. The most rewarding part for me is completing a story.
-
What’s one challenge you’ve faced in your writing journey?
Apart from spelling, grammar and punctuation? Marketing and promotion.
-
Do you have any favorite writing tools or apps?
I use Word.
-
What advice would you give to new or aspiring indie authors?
If you enjoy it, keep at it even if your writing isn't as good as you hoped. Writing is a learning process; you have to work at it and keep practising.
-
How do you handle book promotion as an indie author?
I don't. As I don't have money for promotion, my books don't get promoted.
-
What’s next for you? Are you working on a new book?
After writing nine full-length novels, I am turning my hand to short stories and novellas.
