What inspired you to start writing?
My dear sweet mother was a wonderful thought provoking writer. She encouraged me to express myself daily. In fact, I believe these traits are passed down through genetics.

Can you tell us a little about your latest book?
Iss, an eight-year-old boy, has some lessons for us all. Things he has learned in a very short time through experiences.
These lessons include finding your purpose, the Golden Rule, being honest, smiling, having hope and faith, forgiveness leads to happiness, telling people you love them, keeping a positive outlook, people you love are always in your heart, and salvation.
Let’s find out what Iss has learned, and maybe we can learn too and become better people. The world needs better people, don’t you agree?

How do you create your characters?
In this particular book, my first, I had a dream of what the book was about. I received the title first and then the chapters. The characters are modeled after the loved ones in my life. The main character, Iss looks like my great nephew.

What does your typical writing day look like?
I write when the mood hits me. Then I go like the wind in a storm! I write until I am exhausted.

What has been the most rewarding part of being an indie author?
Thinking about how proud my parents would be of me first. Then seeing it printed and bound.

What’s one challenge you’ve faced in your writing journey?
Money. Money to publish and now money to market. So expensive!

Do you have any favorite writing tools or apps?
I listen to music as I write. Usually contemporary Christian music.

What advice would you give to new or aspiring indie authors?
Just begin. Whatever you put down on paper can always be changed later. JUST START!

How do you handle book promotion as an indie author?
It hasn't been easy. I do videos and post to various social media websites. Facebook, Instagram, Threads, X, YouTube, and Rumble have been my outlets.

What’s next for you? Are you working on a new book?
I have begun the second in a series of The Truth of Iss but lately I have been having a writers block.
